Janette A. Imperiale

Obituary

Janette A. Imperiale, 79, passed away March 14, 2026. She was born August 30, 1946, in Chicago, the daughter of Samuel and Doris (Marquardt) Scardino.

She loved to tell stories of her childhood in Chicago and of the many family trips to her mom’s childhood home in Greenwood, Wisconsin. In 1968, she moved with her parents to Schaumburg. She married in 1969 and moved to a new home in Schaumburg to start a family. They later moved to Roselle where her 3 daughters grew up in a neighborhood that became a family; she counted this as a blessing. While raising her family, she worked both part time and full time, bringing warmth and dedication to everything she did. Her gift for customer service and her positive attitude left a lasting impression on co workers and customers alike.

In retirement, Janette volunteered at the Hanover Township Stars and Stripes Café. She spent Thursday afternoons with a close group of friends enjoying lunch, conversation and trying their luck at the slots. She also enjoyed attending craft fairs, shopping, reading, and decorating for the holidays. In later years, Janette loved to buy matching T-shirts for her family for holidays. Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday, because she strongly believed she had so much to be grateful for. She loved spoiling her grand pups. While she found joy in many activities, nothing meant more to her than spending time with her grandsons, Dominic and Damen.
Janette had a very generous spirit and kind soul. Everyone that knew her loved her. She was a good friend and a beloved sister and aunt.

Janette is survived by her children, Caterina “Cathy” Imperiale, Dorrie Imperiale, and Joya Morales; grandsons, Dominic and Damen; brothers Sam Scardino, Wayne (MaryLou) Scardino, John (Gabe) Scardino; and sister-in-law, Roslyn Scardino.

She is preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, JC Morales; and brother, Jim Scardino.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at DeFiore Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley.
