William “Bill” Majewski

Obituary

William “Bill” Majewski, 81, passed away unexpectedly on March 18, 2026. He was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the son of Edward and Josephine Majewski.

Growing up in Lathrop Homes on Chicago’s north side, Bill enjoyed playing basketball in the courtyard and after graduating from Waller High School, he proudly served in the United States Air Force. Following his service, he worked briefly for the railroad and later with Illinois Bell as a telephone repairman, where he met the love of his life, Nikki.

Bill and Nikki resided in Glenview for many years but later moved to Oregon where they embraced ranch life, caring for many animals, and building a quieter life together. They also ran a business phone systems company in Eugene before retiring.

When Nikki passed, Bill returned to Chicagoland where he enjoyed gardening, spending time with friends, hosting family picnics, playing cards, and traveling to national parks where he bought t-shirts at every stop.

He is survived by his children, Martin (Julie) Simon and Charles Majewski; his grandchildren; his nephew, Rance (Mary) DuYan and their children; and many nieces and nephews. Bill is lovingly remembered by his sister, Agnes Kluck; his brother, Leon (Janis) Majewski; and his little sister, Kathleen Martin, who helped care for Bill throughout the final year of his life.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nikki; his parents, Edward and Josephine; and the many cherished cats and dogs who were part of his life over the years.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for the summer in Huntley with details to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift in Bill’s name to the National Park Foundation.
