Leon Michael Prus

Obituary

Leon Michael Prus, 82, passed away on April 9, 2026 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 26, 1943 in Chicago, the son of Stanley and Bernice (Strempeck) Prus.

Leon was a quiet, gentle, and compassionate person. A mechanic by trade, you would often find him successfully fixing whatever he came across. If only a few words could describe Leon, they would be "Love is Patient and Kind" as he was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family and supporting them with anything they needed.

Leon proudly served his country after being drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam war. On June 7, 1969 he married the love of his life, Helen Bielecki. Leon spent 39 years as an aircraft mechanic for United Airlines.

Leon is survived by his wife, Helen Prus; children, Steven (Stacey) Prus, Ronald (Emilia) Prus, and David (Heather) Prus; grandchildren, Diamond (Ryan), Charlotte, Madeleine, Gavin, and Gabrielle; sister, Mary (the late Leonard) DeFabio; and brother in law, Ronald (the late Jeanette) Minarczyk.

He is preceded by his parents and nine other siblings.
