John J. Doherty, “J.D.” “Johnny,” 68, of Elgin, died peacefully with his family by his side on April 16, 2026.
John was born August 14, 1957, the son of Thomas and Constance Doherty. On December 2, 1977, he married Kimberly M. Johnson, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love, dedication, and family.

His commitment to honesty and professionalism helped shape the company into one of the most respected and successful contractors in the plumbing industry.
Outside of work, John embraced life fully. He was an avid golfer, a devoted White Sox and Bears fan, and someone who enjoyed a good Miller Lite among friends. Known for his warmth and charisma, John had a gift for lighting up any room he entered and leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Kimberly; his children, Eric Doherty and Tricia (Robert) Hudgens; and his cherished grandchildren, Luc, Maya, Zoe, Clara, and Lola, who lovingly knew him as “Papa.” He is also survived by his three brothers and four sisters.
