Obituary

Edward Charles Gosmire, 77, passed away on April 18, 2026. He was born June 3, 1948, in South Dakota, the son of Walter and Verna (Beck) Gosmire.
Edward joined the United State Navy after graduating high school. He proudly served his country for 4 years. Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy, he moved to Chicago and began working for M&M Mars where he was an electrical engineering technician for 29 years. He married the love of his life, Linda Longo in 1972.
Edward and Linda enjoyed traveling anywhere they could with family and friends. Their favorite places to travel were to Mexico and the Caribbean. When Edward and Linda were not travelling, he enjoyed spending time working in the yard, tending to his perennials, or working on projects in the garage. While Edward had a passion for golf and enjoyed a good hand of poker, there was nothing more important to him than his family. He especially enjoyed teaching his son Jeffrey, son-in-law Brian, or grandsons how to be handy.
Edward is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Jennifer (Brian) Hoeppner, Jeffrey (Sabrina) Gosmire, and Jillian Schmit; grandchildren, Michael, Madeline, Jacob, Jonathan, Benjamin, and Joseph; siblings, Mark Gosmire, Roy Gosmire, and Caroline Bright; brother-in-law, Joseph Longo and sister-in-law, Merry (Doug) Hunt and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded by his parents.
A memorial visitation will be held from 2:00pm until the time of service at 3:00pm, on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at First Congregational Church of Dundee, 900 S. 8th St, West Dundee, IL 60118.
