Louis “Lou” Czech, 81, of Lake in the Hills, Illinois, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Lou was born in Chicago at St. Anne’s Hospital to Eleanor Czech (née Maurer) and Leroy Czech. He was raised on Newland Avenue by his parents and maternal grandparents, whose love and guidance helped shape the man he became. He attended Norman Bridge Elementary School, and both Lane Tech and Luther North High School. Lou pursued his post-secondary education at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago from 1963 to 1965, where he developed his artistic talents.
Lou proudly served his country after being drafted into the United States Army. He completed basic training at Fort Knox, Kentucky, followed by Military Occupational Specialty training at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis. Lou completed his military service as a Private First Class and was later promoted to Corporal.
Following his military service, Lou began working as a carpenter and, through hard work, determination, and natural leadership, became a project manager. He took great pride in his work ethic and the career he built over the years.
In 1987, Lou married Beverly Czech (Yokas), and together they built a lively blended family that became the center of his life. He is survived by his beloved wife, his sister, Pat Domek, children, Pamela Czech Scheffler (Dave Scheffler), Dave Czech (Cassandra Bischoff), Denise Dahl (Jim Dahl), Christopher Yokas, and Jennifer Hausch (Dave Hausch). He was preceded in death by his son, Eric Czech.
Lou was a proud grandfather to Lexi (Gustavo), Nikayla (Sam), Brandon (Kaylie), Madi (Dylan), Nicholas, Nathan, Sydney, Jake, Ben, Delaney, Camille, Erica, Jessica, and Jami. He was also a proud great-grandfather, lovingly known as “GG-Pa,” to Liam, Ava, Brooks, Blakely, and Baylor. Nothing brought him more joy than cheering on his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren at swim meets, gymnastics competitions, football games, soccer games, and every milestone in between. He was always there — encouraging, supporting, and proudly watching from the sidelines.
Lou had a deep love for golf and especially treasured the friendships and community he found at Boulder Ridge Country Club. Whether sharing laughs on the golf course or enjoying a good bourbon with friends and family, Lou valued the simple moments spent with the people he loved most.
Those who knew Lou will remember him for his stubborn streak, his quick sense of humor, and his unwavering devotion to his family. He lived with strength, loyalty, and love, leaving behind countless memories that will continue to bring comfort and laughter to all who knew him.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family, friends, and everyone fortunate enough to have known him.
Visitation will be on Wednesday,May 13,2026 9am until the time of the 10am Mass all at St. Mary Catholic Church 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley. Burial will be at Huntley Cemetery.
