Philip Anthony DesParte

Obituary

Philip Anthony DesParte, 77, of Lake in the Hills, passed away on June 12, 2026. He was born June 22, 1948 in Chicago, the son of Anthony and Rose (Pentimone) DesParte.

Philip is a United States Navy Veteran where he served from 1969-1972 as an ejection seat mechanic. While stationed in England he met the love of his life, Jeanette Gunard. They spent 55 years happily married. After they married and Philip’s honorable discharge, they made a home in Elk Grove Village where they raised their family. In 2017, they made the move to Lake in the Hills.
He was a career long tool and die maker. Philip enjoyed attending local car shows, was an avid Chicago sports fan, and enjoyed telling a joke or two. There was nothing more important to him than his grandchildren, raising three of them from their childhood.

He is preceded by his parents and his brother, Joe.
Survivors include his loving wife, Jeanette; children, Michelle Neighbor, Tina (Jason) Sickmeir, and Diane DesParte; and grandchildren, Joe, Kylee, Colin, Audriana, Paige, Blake, Lucas, Alex, Will, Luke, and Nicholas.

Phil was a one of kind guy truly and original. With a smile and a joke that lit up any gathering. He will be sorely missed by all that got to be part of his life. My condolences to his family and friends on their great loss. In the time I've known Phil I looked up to him as another grandfather in my life. I'll never forget the laughs and talks we had over the years and cruising to all the different events. Heaven gained a great man we lost our buddy. Love you Phil see you again

I knew Phil and his parents growing up on the Northwest side of Chicago. We reconnected when he lived in Elk Grove Village joining him managing girls softball where our daughters participated. We continued to be in contact after he moved to Lake in the Hills. I best remember his love of bowling and cars, but at the top of his list was his love of his family and grandkids. The time I spent with him was special and always enjoyed his wit and constant supply of jokes. I can truly say that I considered him a true friend for life. He will be sorely missed. My deepest condolences to Jeanette and his family. I am here for you if there is anything you may need.

Dear Jeanette, very sorry to hear about Phil. I called Gerry Comperda in Colorado and he too sends his condolences. We had many good times together especially when the six of us went to Vegas. Phil nocked me on my ass when he surprised me when I opened my room door. I didn't know that we had adjoining rooms and he really busted my b__s. God bless you and if you ever need anything just call. Love Larry Bemben

Uncle Phil was at every family party growing up. He was a best friend to my Dad for many years!! My only hope is Uncle Marty and my mom are showing him around in Heaven. I didn’t realized May 31st would have been the last time we chatted. You are a good person Uncle Phil. I will never forget your lawnmower tattoo and how much you loved your grandchildren!! I even remember you playing catch with my son Ryan years ago at a game in Elk Grove. You will be missed! 💔

Famous for his tattoo. It’s a small man with a lawn mower. Mowing the bald area on the back of Phil’s head. A friend thru family and cars. RIP.
