Barbara Antoinette Tokarz, age 87, of Huntley, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.
Born on July 5, 1938, the daughter of Joseph Linsner and Agnes Linsner (Haubl).
On February 5, 1955, Barbara met the love of her life, John R. Tokarz, Jr. They were married on June 29, 1957, at St. Monica Church in Chicago. Together they shared nearly 69 years of love, devotion, and cherished memories. They first made their home in Chicago, later relocating to Schaumburg, Terre Haute, Indiana, and Hoffman Estates before settling in Huntley, where they have lived for the past 27 years.
Barbara was a faithful member of St. Mary Church in Huntley for 27 years. Her faith was central to her life, and she generously volunteered her time in service to the Lady of Perpetual Help Adoration Chapel at St. Mary Catholic Church.
Barbara found joy in many activities throughout her life. She loved reading, working jigsaw puzzles, traveling—especially taking cruises—and held a special affection for Hawaii. She enjoyed line dancing and BINGO and treasured the friendships she made along the way.
Above all, Barbara was a wonderful homemaker, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was known for her kindness, compassion, and caring heart. Her family was the center of her world, and she leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and devotion that will continue to inspire those who knew her.
Barbara is survived by her beloved husband, John R. Tokarz, Jr.; her daughters, Debbie (Bill) Olson, Dianne (Dennis) Steinhoff, and Donna (Scott) Graham; her grandchildren, Tim (Kate), Lindy, Jessica (Kenny), Joshua, Nick, Taylor, Abby, Jack, and Casey; her great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Reese, and Trevor; her brother, Joseph (Vicki) Linsner; and many nieces, nephews, and a countryside of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Agnes Linsner; her son, John R. Tokarz III of McKinney, Texas; and her sister, Dolores Bell.
A memorial visitation will be Monday, June 29, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. followed by Mass at 2:00 pm at St. Mary Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley.
