Lorraine, age 96, has gone home to Heaven. Born in Chicago, she passed away on July 8, 2026. She was the beloved wife of Frank M. Ortiz for 53 years until his passing in 2011. They lived most of their lives in Palatine where Frank retired as a Commander for the Palatine Police Department. They retired to Las Vegas and after 20 years they returned to Illinois and settled in Crystal Lake with their little dog Molly. Lorrie was a fun loving and passionate woman who enjoyed dinners at home with family and friends. She had a keen sense of style and was always seen dressed stylishly with perfect makeup and her home was beautifully appointed.
Lorrie had many talents and had a born talent for painting, especially still life. She loved to play cards – poker was her game. She was a truly kind and loving person with a special place in her heart for the elderly. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Her memory will be left with her children Linda Onyskiw, Kathy (John) Novak, Karen Ortiz and David (Jennifer) Ortiz. Her grandchildren David Onyskiw, Laurie (Brett) Whritenour, Christopher (Diana) Ortiz, Brendan Ortiz and his fiancée, Kaylee Cardenas, Mackenzie Ortiz and her fiancé, Mark Yarce, Ryan Ortiz, Kaitlyn Ortiz and 5 great grandchildren Taylor, Noah, Eli, Leo and Violet, with another great-grandchild expected later this year.
A visitation will be held at DeFiore’s Funeral Home in Huntley, Monday, July 13 from 4 – 7 pm and a Mass will be held at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Crystal Lake at 11:00 am Tuesday, July 14. Lorrie will be laid to rest with Frank at the Abraham Lincoln Veteran’s Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
