Robert C. Wold, 89, of Huntley, formerly of Palatine, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2026.
Robert was born on January 8, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Henry and Mildred (Hanssen) Wold. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. On November 21, 1965, he married the love of his life, Janet Mae Bouwman, beginning a beautiful marriage that spanned 60 years.
Bob was a proud graduate of Lane Tech High School. As a young man, he enjoyed spending time with his cousins at Riverview Amusement Park and Shady Hills, creating memories that lasted a lifetime. Deeply proud of his Norwegian heritage, Bob was a lifelong member of the Normennenes Singing Society.
Bob and Janet shared a passion for travel, exploring destinations throughout the United States and abroad together. A devoted Chicago Cubs fan, he also treasured the friendships he made in Sun City, where he enjoyed playing bocce ball and gathering each week for poker games. Bob never met a stranger. He was social by nature, loved being surrounded by people, and was happiest when spending time with family. His greatest pride and joy were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought endless happiness to his life.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Janet Wold; his children, Kari (Rick) Koebernick and Keith (Urana) Wold; his grandchildren, Bailey (Marcus) Miller, Tyler (Taylor) Koebernick, Brooke Wold, and Ryan Wold; and his six great-grandchildren, Treyson, Easton, Rilynn, Jackson, Lincoln, and Emerson and by Brother in law of Barbara (Tom) Miller and Uncle of Alison (Joe) Bruscato.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mildred Wold.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at DeFiore Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. Burial will be private at Irving Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice (or a charity designated by the family).
