Brenda L. Daugherty, 70, of Big Pine Key, FL, passed away peacefully at her home on June 21, 2026, with her loving family by her side.
Brenda was born on August 22, 1955, the daughter of Harold and Velma Ritter. Growing up, her family owned and operated a roller rink, where she discovered her passion and remarkable talent for roller skating. Her dedication led her to become a National Champion in freestyle roller skating, an accomplishment she carried with great pride.
Brenda found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved walking through the woods, listening to live music, and embracing each day with gratitude. An exceptional cook, she delighted in preparing meals for those she loved, and nothing meant more to her than spending time surrounded by her family. Her warmth, kindness, and generous spirit created countless cherished memories that will be treasured forever.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Kevin; her children, John Kay, Joshua (Katie) Kay, Cody (Adrianne) Zajicek, and J.D. (Michelle) Zajicek; her cherished grandchildren, Lucy, Owen, Alexander, and Cora; along with many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Velma Ritter, her sister, Scarlet Brown, and her daughter in law, Robyn Kay.
A celebration of life service will be held on August 22, 2026 at Lightology's rooftop, 215 W. Chicago Ave, Chicago IL.

Miss you Aunt Brenda, thank you for always and I mean always being the most gracious, kind sweet, fun and loving aunt a young man could wish for! I will always remember you bringing the boys to Michigan to see us and spend time together when I was growing up! Love you and you will be missed by all! Brenda was one of the kindest, most loving people I've ever had the privilege to know. She had a special connection with nature and found beauty in the simple things that many of us overlook. To say she will be missed is a tremendous understatement. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, compassion, and love that will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her.
