
Gene Gary Guidone, 81, of Huntley, Illinois passed away peacefully at his home on June 2, 2026.
Gene was born on March 23, 1945, the son of Roosevelt and Victoria (Kawalski) Guidone. He attended high school in England and later studied at DeVry Institute of Technology. Proudly serving his country, Gene was a veteran of the United States Army. On July 21,1976 in Lewistown, Maine, he married the love of his life, Dolores Oprian.
Gene worked in the technology field throughout his career, where his natural curiosity and problem-solving abilities served him well. He was an avid tinkerer who enjoyed taking things apart, figuring out how they worked, and finding ways to make them better. He had a passion for archery and especially enjoyed crossbow target shooting. Gene will be remembered for his inquisitive mind, his quiet determination, and the many ways he shared his knowledge and talents with those around him.
He is survived by his sisters, Sharon Smith (the late William) and Dianna (Charles) Ronan; his nieces and nephews, Teresa Nelson, Erica (Joey) Watrach, Anthony (Melissa) Smith, Matthew (Tricia) Ronan, Brian (Carin) Ronan, Britton Rizzio, (husband Jay Martin), Melissa (David) Chorney, Jamie Rizzio, and George Rizzio; his sister-in-law, Cindy Rizzio; and his beloved great-nieces and great-nephews, Ruby, Lucy, James, Vivian, Mason, Lily, Olivia, Mabel, Theodore, Siena, Felix, and Rivers.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents and by his beloved wife, Dolores.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. until the time of a memorial service at 12:30 p.m. at DeFiore Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Audubon Society or Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
