Patrick, formerly of Norridge, IL, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026, at White Oaks Memory Care in Huntley, IL. He was born March 21, 1933, in Chicago, IL to Andrew and Rose (Bongeorno) Kovach. Preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Robert, and his beloved wife of 55 years, Patricia (Keating) Kovach.
Loving Father to Veronica (Mark) Heineman, Andrew (Jennifer) Kovach, and Mary (DL) Rogers. Grandfather to Christopher, Robert, Dylan, Jake and Sean. Great-Grandfather to Victor, Kyra, Reid, Grey and Cole. Brother to Linda (Roger) Bolin. Patrick leaves behind many loved family members and his good friend and companion Carole Gallotta.
Patrick was drafted into the Army at the end of the Korean War. He later joined the Air National Guard where he served for many years ending his career as a Master Sergeant. Alumni of the Chicago Teachers College and University of Chicago. He spent the majority of his career as a Math teacher at Richard Yates Elementary School in Humboldt Park.
Patrick enjoyed summers at the pool, reading a good book, spirited discussions and really bad jokes. During his retirement in Largo, FL he enjoyed days at the local library, coffee with friends and the Clearwater Beach tiki bars. Patrick spent legendary Sunday afternoons dancing and having fun with friends at the Madeira Beach American Legion. A life well lived.

A long life well-lived indeed! Patrick and Patricia were lifelong friends with my parents, and your family with mine. He will be missed, although the memories will remain. Rest in peace Mr Kovach. 🙏🏽
Dear Mary, Your father sounds like a remarkable man. I always have had such respect to those that help educate others. I have visited many Clearwater Tiki bars during my time when I lived in Florida and can definitely appreciate a person that enjoyed his time there as well.
