Joan L. Berg

Obituary

Joan L. Berg, 89, of Huntley, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026, with her family by her side.
Joan was born on March 7, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois. She and her sister were raised in an orphanage, an experience that helped shape her strength, compassion, and unwavering appreciation for family. On July 20, 1957, she married the love of her life, Carter Berg. Together they shared more than 69 wonderful years of marriage, building a life rooted in love, faith, and devotion to one another.
Joan worked as a secretary for School District 54, a career she truly enjoyed. Affectionately known as "Joanie" to those who loved her, she never met a stranger. She greeted everyone with a warm smile that reflected her kind and caring heart and had a way of lighting up every room she entered. Her faith guided her life, and her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose gentle spirit and genuine warmth will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Carter Berg; her children, Tom (Diane) Berg and Jeff (Cheryl) Berg; her grandchildren, Dan, Chris, Magen, and Austin; and her great-grandchild, Grace.
Joan was preceded in death by her sister, Sally.
A memorial service to celebrate Joan's life will be held at a later date.
