Obituary

Richard O. Zampa, 87, of Huntley, passed away peacefully at his home on August 8, 2026.
Richard was born on March 23, 1939, in Chicago, the son of Olivo and Nice (DeStefano) Zampa. On August 1, 1959, he married the love of his life, Joan M. Calcagno. Together, Richard and Joan shared more than 67 years of marriage, building a life centered around their family and the many memories they created together.
Richard was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing, but above all, he treasured time spent with his family. He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather. His love for his family and the memories they shared will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Joan Zampa; his children, Rick (Cathy) Zampa, Mary Jo (Neal) Willen, and Nancy (Blane) Farrell; his ten grandchildren, Ricky (Nicole), Nicholas (Megan), Anthony, Jared (Kinsey), Justin (Abigail), Jake, Mallory (Eric), Rachel (Brendan), Marisa (Ryan), and Bret (Ave); and 11 great-grandchildren, with another great-grandchild on the way. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Joahnne, and daughter-in-law, Kris Zampa.
He was preceded in death by his son, Joe Zampa; his siblings, Mario and Lil; and his brother-in-law, Peter.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
