David Lester Goss, 79, of Crystal Lake, died peacefully on August 23, 2026, with his family by his side.
David was born August 1, 1947, the son of Donald and Betty (Soule) Goss. He built his career in the information technology industry, working as a systems analyst. David was also dedicated to serving his community. He served on the Crystal Lake City Council as well as the Crystal Lake Planning and Zoning Commission. He also worked for Crystal Lake School Districts 155 and 47.
On January 16, 1981, David married Linda G. Dietz. Together, they built a wonderful life and enjoyed traveling, with Hawaii holding a special place in their hearts and becoming a favorite destination they returned to over the years. David also enjoyed racquetball in his younger years, photography, and spending time with extended family, especially trips to Chicago Cubs and Bears games.
Above all, David treasured his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
David is survived by his wife, Linda Goss; his children, James (Michelle) Dietz, Bill (Krista) Dietz, and Dustin (Jessica) Dietz; and his grandchildren, Lauren, JT, Charlie, Dakota, Kaden, and Allison.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Betty Goss; He is survived by his brother, Rollie (Beth) Goss; and his sister, Cindy Johnson.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at DeFiore Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley.
