Gail Lynne Quam, 73, of Huntley, died peacefully on September 6, 2026, at JourneyCare in Barrington.
Gail was born September 9, 1952, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Nelville and Ruth (Clausen) Quam. She graduated from Illinois State University and went on to dedicate her career to education. Gail taught physical education, health, and driver’s education at Addison Trail High School until her retirement.
Gail was one of those special people who never knew a stranger. Her warm personality and beautiful smile could light up a room, and she had a wonderful way of making those around her feel welcome. A talented musician, Gail also enjoyed golfing, boating, and spending her winters in Venice, Florida. She was a member of Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church in Huntley.
Gail embraced life, friendship, and the people she loved. She was a loving daughter, wife, cousin, and friend whose kindness, joyful spirit, and unforgettable smile will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Gail is survived by her longtime companion, Susan Blotch; and her cousins, Chris, Cathy, Karin, Brian, Jimmy, and Dorothy. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Judy.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the 11:00 a.m. funeral service, all at Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church in Huntley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Adoption Services of Lutheran Social Services or Animal House Shelter of Huntley.
