Spc. Aiden Robert Mrotek

Obituary

Spc. Aiden Robert Mrotek, 21, of Carpentersville, died from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Aiden was born April 6, 2005, in Elgin, Illinois, the son of Alexander Mrotek and Tammy Lopeparo. During his youth and high school years, he was active in cub scouts, boy scouts Troop 368, Chicago Alliance Soccer and the Algonquin Argonauts youth football program. Aiden was a black belt in Taekwondo, he attended District 300 schools - Liberty Elementary, Dundee Middle School and graduated from Jacobs High School. He proudly enlisted in the Illinois Army National Guard during his senior year.

From September 2024 to September 2025, Aiden deployed to Somalia, Africa, as a member of the Illinois National Guard’s 2nd Squadron, 106th Cavalry Regiment. During his deployment, he supported U.S. military counterterrorism operations. His service was something he took great pride in; he was dedicated to his work and truly loved being a soldier.

Aiden was warm, kind, funny, outgoing and easy to be around. He was a natural protector who cared deeply for the people in his life. His quick wit and sense of humor came easily, and he had a way of making people laugh and feel comfortable. He had a special place in his heart for animals.

Above all, Aiden loved his family and friends. He was a devoted son, brother, grandson, nephew, boyfriend and friend whose life, though far too short, touched so many. His kindness, loyalty, humor and protective spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Aiden is survived by his mother, Tammy Lopeparo; his father, Alex Mrotek; his siblings, A.J., Mia and Abby; his grandparents, Robert Mrotek and Sandra Mrotek; his aunts, Angela and Andrea; his uncle, Anthony; and his girlfriend, Rahan. He was a rock to his military buddies, and he had such a deep love for his dog Bella, and his cats Indie, Jax, and Lexi.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Judith Santos and Robert Lopeparo.
