Dennis Allen Moehling, 71, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2026. He was born on October 27, 1954, in Harvard, Illinois, to Robert and Vera (Flentge) Moehling.
Dennis shared 46 wonderful years of marriage with his loving wife, Deborah. The two first met while playing softball, beginning a life together filled with family, laughter, and many cherished memories. They made their home in Marengo, where they raised their beloved daughter, Sara.
Dennis worked for Union Special for 20 years and proudly served his community as a volunteer firefighter in Union for 20 years. He was also a faithful and regular parishioner of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Union.
Fun-loving by nature, Dennis knew how to make even the simplest moments memorable. He especially enjoyed cooking breakfast on the grill, serving up blueberry pancakes, bacon, and sausage for family and friends. His homemade donuts became a favorite tradition, affectionately known as “Denny’s Donuts,” and were always eagerly anticipated by those lucky enough to enjoy them.
Dennis was a devoted Elvis fan and an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He loved playing cornhole—and was quite good at it—but one of his greatest joys was watching his grandson, Zander, play soccer.
Dennis and Deborah also treasured the time they spent at their seasonal campsite at Fish Lake Beach in Volo. It was a special place where they could relax, have fun, and enjoy time together.
Above all, Dennis will be remembered for his fun-loving spirit and the happiness he brought to those around him. His family will especially miss the traditions, laughter, and good times that were simply part of being with Dennis.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Vera Moehling, and his beloved daughter, Sara.
He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah; son-in-law, Dimitri Boulahanis; cherished grandsons, Zander and Nikos; brothers, Dale (Brenda) Moehling and Donny Moehling; mother-in-law, Jackie Dinley; brothers-in-law, Mike Dinley and Brad Dinley; as well as many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

I am so sorry for your loss. I met Denny when I started working at fish lake beach. He was and will always be a great friend. I will miss seeing him around the camp grounds and I will miss joking around with him. Prayers to you and your family.

I first met you both at Fish Camp and always enjoyed the positive, fun koving spirit Denny brought to any gathering. Fishing , boating or just hanging out was great with you. He was always ready to lend a hand with any project. So glad we shared many years there. Denny was definitely gone too soon. You have my deepest condolences.
Debbie so sorry to hear about your loss when i first met him up north at the lake after iknew him for awhile i knew he was going to be a barrel of laughs and he was remember us going northern fishing and setting in one of our swings just talking and relaxing if you coulden't like Denny you coulden't like any one he was ajust that special kind of person never for get the day he put that nick name on me i actually laught until i cried then little Zander he call me it to Denny my frind you are gone but you will never be forgotten
