Donna Jean DeVita, 85, of Algonquin, IL, passed away on September 24, 2026. She was born on March 22, 1941, in Moline, IL, to Edward and Juanita (Zook) Dalton.
Donna grew up in Maywood and Elmhurst, IL, and graduated from York High School in 1959. She continued her education at Northern Illinois University, where she earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education.
On September 19, 1964, Donna married Joseph M. DeVita at Visitation Catholic Church in Elmhurst. Following their marriage, Donna began her teaching career in Lockport, IL. They later settled in Northlake, where she taught Business Education at East Leyden High School. In 1968, Donna and Joseph moved to Streamwood, where she continued teaching high school in the Crystal Lake School District. They remained in Streamwood until their retirement and moved to Huntley in 2003.
Donna was deeply devoted to her faith and was very active in her church, serving as a liturgical minister, Eucharistic minister, and in many other capacities. She was a longtime parishioner of both St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Streamwood and later at St. Mary Catholic Church in Huntley. Donna enjoyed volunteering and traveling, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.
Donna is survived by her children, Joseph (Melinda) DeVita, Julie DeVita, Michael (Edith) DeVita, Mark (Tracy) DeVita, and Scott (Erin) DeVita; her grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Walter) Weadley, Ashley (Brett) Mears, Jamie (Brandon) Swiderski, Thomas (Aurora) DeVita, Anthony (Jessi) DeVita, and Elisabetta DeVita; her great-grandchildren, Wade and Collins Weadley and Maisie Mears; her brother, Robert (Marge) Dalton; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph M. DeVita; her parents, Edward and Juanita Dalton; and her sisters, Therese Dalton, Bonnie (John) Chamberlain, and Shirley (Jim) Dunn.
A visitation will be held from 1-5pm on Sunday October 4th at DeFiore Funeral Home located at 10763 Dundee-Huntley Road, Huntley, IL 60142. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00AM on Monday October 5th at St. Mary Catholic Church located at 10307 Dundee-Huntley Road, Huntley, IL 60142. There will be a second visitation at Church from 9am until the time of the Mass at St. Mary.

My best friend from the beginning and forever. I don't believe in goodbyes ... we will always be besties and talk everyday. Joe too, so many memories all over our home.
She was much love and it was a joy to see her and her family every time we visited! I have the cross she sent me from Jordan at my bedside. Such a thoughtful gift.
