Vera Spizzirri, age 81, passed away on October 5, 2026. She was born in Italy on January 22, 1945, to the late Salvatore and Ida (DeFrancesco) Molinaro.
Vera married the love of her life, Francesco Spizzirri, in 1965. After his passing in 1970, Vera devoted herself to raising her children in Elmwood Park, Illinois. She later made her home in Huntley, where she lived for the past 25 years.
Vera was a talented seamstress and a woman who found joy in creating beautiful things with her hands. She loved crocheting, knitting, shopping, cooking, and baking. She especially enjoyed knitting blankets and baby booties for little ones, always putting love into every stitch. Her homemade pasta and sauce were among her specialties, and her cooking brought family and friends together around her table.
Vera had a heart of gold and a generous spirit. She never wanted anyone around her to go hungry and was always ready to feed those she loved with warmth and care. She was the person you could always count on—someone who would never let you down and who would gladly help with anything you asked of her.
Above all, Vera cherished her family. Her grandchildren were her heart and her world, and the love she had for them was immeasurable. Her kindness, generosity, love, and devotion to her family will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Vera is survived by her children, Frank Spizzirri, Jr. and Rosanna (David) Szymkowiak and her grandchildren Bridgette, Nicholas, Laura and Sarah.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Francesco.

My most sincere condolences to the entire family… my heart is filled with sadness hearing about her passing. I had the great honor of knowing Vera since I was born.. Vera and my mother Egla have been close friends since Italy where they were classmates and neighbors. It was difficult to tell my mother ( lives in Italy) of Vera’s passing she was very upset and sends the family her condolences as well. We will keep both Vera and her family in our prayers.
My Aunt Vera was dearly loved by my family, especially my mother, Edvige, and my father, Tito. We shared many wonderful years together in Chicago, where my four brothers and I grew up alongside our cousins in the old Montclare neighborhood. Aunt Vera and her children, Roseanna and Francesco Jr., were a cherished part of our lives. Rest in peace dear Aunt, ❤️.
From the Savaglio family to your family, please accept my most sincere condolences to the entire family. My heart is filled with sadness hearing about Vera’s passing.
