Alan Edward Frediani

Obituary

Alan Edward Frediani, age 77, of Huntley, formerly of Schaumburg, passed away October 11, 2026. He was born on May 16, 1949 in Berwyn, the son of Albert and Louise (Nasti) Frediani.

A music lover, Al met Marie Formagus at his father’s record store in 1964. He graduated from J. Sterling Morton West High School in Berwyn in 1967. He and Marie married on November 7, 1970 and moved to Schaumburg where they raised their two children.

Al spent a long career as a mechanic at Wood Dale Bowl in IL. He also spent his time as a referee and umpire in the Schaumburg area. After he retired he chose to become a starter at the Schaumburg Golf Course. He made many friendships there and was adored by the Thursday Lady League.

As a handyman with many tools, Al’s kindness extended to anyone who needed something fixed. He took pride in helping others.

He enjoyed gardening, golfing and bowling. In his free time, he loved to play board games, watch old Westerns, and go to the movies. He spent much of his time with his lifelong friends, whom he loved very much.

Al was a world traveler, enjoying cruises to Alaska, the Caribbean, and the Mediterranean, where he visited Italy and got to meet a cousin for the first time. After moving to Del Webb in Huntley, he and Marie cultivated close friendships with neighbors and traveled to Mexico together.

Al will be remembered as a loving husband, father, friend and Papa who could be stubborn at times, but was kind, funny, and a big teddy bear at heart. His generosity, dedication, and unconditional love touched many lives. His greatest legacy is his family and the beautiful memories he made with them, including his dedication to cheering on his granddaughters at all of their extra-curricular events.

Al will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife Marie Jean (Formagus) Frediani; children Joel (Jessica) Frediani; and Carla (Mark) Wasniewski; and the loves of his life, granddaughters Gianna, Isabella, Olive, and Hazel.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at DeFiore Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley.
