Steve Libera, 88, died peacefully on October 6, 2026. He was born in Poland on December 8, 1937, to the late Cyprian and Alexandra (Korowicki) Libera. Steve shared over 60 years of marriage with his loving wife, Theresia, and was a proud father to his beloved children Stephen and Linda.
Steve was a hard-working man who worked for over 30 years at S&C Electric Company as a tool and die maker. He was an early bird who enjoyed waking up extra early on weekends to spend time outdoors or in his vegetable garden. Steve was a very talented artist whose specialty was painting realistic landscapes. His artwork was often featured in art galleries and shows.
Nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters Amanda and Megan, of whom he was immensely proud.
His legacy of hard work, kindness and love will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
Steve is survived by his children, Stephen Libera and Linda Bargiel (Dave), grandchildren Amanda Riedl (Jacob), Megan Bargiel, sister-in-law Barbara Lettenmair and many nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his wife, Theresia, and sister Helen Sczpacher.
A memorial gathering and internment was held on Friday, October 9, 2026 at 1:00 pm at the Columbarium at the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Huntley.
