Suzanne B. Evans, age 94, of Huntley, Illinois, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2026.
Sue was born on February 24, 1932 in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of Gaylord and Lola (Clark) Howard. On August 26, 1951, she married the love of her life, Richard Evans, beginning a lifelong journey filled with family, love, and cherished memories.
A devoted wife and homemaker, Sue took great pride in caring for her home and family as Dick’s career led them to several communities, including Fort Wayne, Indiana; Toledo, Ohio; Salem, Ohio; Lisle, Illinois;
and La Crosse, Wisconsin. In 2000, they made their home in Huntley, Illinois.
Sue was a member of Marengo United Methodist Church and found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed traveling, reading, trying new recipes, and cheering on her favorite sports teams. Some of her happiest times were spent with family at their cabin in Montello, Wisconsin, where special memories were made and treasured.
Above all else, Sue’s greatest joy was her family, especially her thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, who held a very special place in her heart. This love was demonstrated during the annual Fourth of July and Thanksgiving gatherings she and Dick were famous for hosting. Sue made serving over 30 people look effortless, with everyone looking forward to her family-favorite potato salad, mashed potatoes with gravy and the BIG sandwich.
Sue will be remembered for her devotion to her family, the loving home she created, and the many wonderful memories she leaves behind. Her love and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her 6 children, Mary Kay (Kim) Allen of Green Lake, WI, Paula (Ken Wampler) Walsworth of Madison, WI, Nancy (Mike) Mortell of Cary, IL, Scott (Laura) Evans of Simpsonsville, SC, Jennifer (Bill) Pawlak of Huntley, IL and James (Dana) Evans of Madison, WI; her 13 grandchildren, Matthew (Bessie), Lindsay (Brett), Amy (Russell), Brian (Lexi), Gayle, Michael, Ashley, Jackson, Tyler (Hannah), Jason, Joey, Megan & Allison; her 7 great-grandchildren, Evan, Sienna, Calvin, Hailey Morgan, Arlo, Brinlee, and Collins. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Nancy Struble of Toledo, Ohio.
