Dave Montgomery was a loving, hardworking and devoted family man. He passed in his home, surrounded by love, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s on October 25, 2026. The family takes comfort in knowing he is at peace and has rejoined his son, David.
Dave was a very strong and sometimes stubborn man. He was a great role model for everyone in his life. He was fair to a fault. He was a competitive man who loved to win, especially when it came to pinochle, ping pong and old maid with the kids. Dave excelled at everything he did and he loved his sports, especially bragging about his golf and his perfect bowling game. He had many loves in his life including his wife of 33 years, his children, grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. You could find him most days at the hanger or flying with Lowell, on the golf course, watching the Chicago Bears or Cubs play or just enjoying a giant ice cream. He always had room for another scoop of ice cream and one more cookie.
He is preceded in death by both his parents, his sister Laura, his brother Dean and his son David. He is survived by his Wife, Cindy; his sister Linda; his son and daughter Scotty and Debbie; his step children Cord and Stephanie; 3 grandchildren, Dillon, Christopher and Elizabeth; and his great-grandchildren Suzy and Maverick.
The family invites you to think of and share all of the fond memories you have of Dave, the wonderful life he lived and his contagious smile.
In leu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association, https://donorservices.alz.org.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2026 from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm at DeFiore Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley with a service starting at 3:30 pm.
