Phyllis J. Anderson, 81 of Huntley, passed away at her home on Friday morning, March 7, 2014 following a lengthy illness.
She was born September 10, 1932 in Rudyard, Michigan, the daughter of Cecil and Tracy (Bergsma) Beacom. She was raised and educated in Rudyard, graduating as the salutatorian from Rudyard High School. She attended the University of Michigan where she earned her Bachelors in Dental Hygiene. She was united in marriage to Theodore E. Anderson on September 8, 1956. The couple made their home in East Lansing, Midland, Michigan, Elkhart, Indiana and later Grosse Ile, Michigan. They moved to Huntley in 2001. Phyllis especially enjoyed sewing and knitting, gardening and was very creative in interior design. She was an active member of Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church and involved in many church activities.
She is survived by her husband, Theodore of Huntley, her daughters, Mary Geiger of Huntington Beach, California, Joan (Jeff) Hager of Winfield, Illinois, her grandchildren, Andrew and Matthew Geiger & Jack and Lauren Hager, her brothers, Jim (Beaulah) Beacom & Roger (Carol) Beacom both of Nokomis, Florida as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 22nd with visitation after 10:00 a.m. all at Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church, 10805 E. Main Street, Huntley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church.
