Obituary

Jonetta Beresford, 80, formerly of Sleepy Hollow and Huntley IL, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2014 at her home in Cary, NC from colon cancer.

Services will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntley at 10:30am on Monday, June 2, 2014. The Reverend Monsignor Stephen J. Knox will be officiating. Friends may call from 1pm-4pm on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral Home at 10763 Dundee Road in Huntley or from 9:30am -10:30am at the Church prior to the Funeral Mass. Burial will be in River Valley Memorial Garden Cemetery in Elgin, IL.

Jonetta was born on December 24, 1933 in Bellevue, Iowa. She was the daughter of Jullitta and John Herrig. She grew up on a farm near Scales Mound, IL. Her parents and her sister, Ardis Locher preceded her in death. Her son, Donald Beresford, and her husband of 50 years, Eldon Beresford, also preceded her in death.

She had many loves and passions. Foremost in her heart were her grandchildren—Tracy Mayer, Jacquelyn Beresford, Dylan Beresford, Jessica Beresford, Jamie Mayer, Blair Beresford, Bridget Driscoll, and Ryan Driscoll.

Jonetta was well known for her many creative endeavors including her exquisite floral arrangements. She was a passionate and dedicated volunteer. She had volunteered in excess of 15,000 hours and served as President of the Auxiliary at the Presence Saint Joseph Hospital-Provena Health, Elgin, IL.

Those left to honor her memory include her beloved husband, Stan Driscoll, of Cary, NC and her surviving children. They include Jody Beresford (Bob Mayer), David Beresford, Jan Beresford, Dean Beresford (Susan Beresford), and Brendan Driscoll (Liz Hamilton Driscoll).
