Edward J. Kopp, 77 of Sun City, Huntley, passed away at his home on Monday, September 1, 2014, following a lengthy illness.
He was born September 19, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Edward T. and Elizabeth (Smith) Kopp. He grew up in Chicago and graduated from York High School. He was united in marriage to Arlene H. Krempels on September 14, 1957. The couple made their home in Elmhurst and Ed was employed at A-1 Tool, starting as an apprentice and working his way up to Vice President. He retired in 1996 with over 30 years of service to the company. The couple moved to Wisconsin for a time before settling in Huntley in 2006. Ed enjoyed photography, history, especially related to the Civil War, spent time at the Wood Shop, loved model trains and was instrumental in the set-up of the Sun City Railroad display. He also enjoyed golf and played every Wednesday with his sons.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene of Huntley, his children, Thomas (Regina) Kopp of Bellevue, Nebraska, Virginia Kopp of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, Lawrence (Nancy) Kopp of Villa Park, David (Sharon) Kopp of Lisle and Michael (Cynthia) Kopp of Carol Stream, his grandchildren, Timothy, Robert, Ryan, Brian & Christina and his sister, Elizabeth Kopp of Huntley.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 7th at the DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral & Cremation Service, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley, and from 9:30a.m. until the time of the 10:30 a.m. Funeral Mass on Monday, September 8th at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.
