June A. Goben, 70 of Huntley, passed away unexpectedly at the University of Illinois Medical Center Chicago on Thursday evening, October 9, 2014.
She was born June 1, 1944 in Joliet, Illinois, the daughter of Raymond and Frances (Plese) Butscher. She grew up in Joliet and graduated from St. Francis Academy. She was united in marriage to William L. Goben on April 30, 1966. The couple initially made their home in the Plainfield and Joliet area and then raised their family in Peoria before relocating to several other places. June was very active over the years volunteering for many different organizations. She loved to travel and enjoyed the time they lived in England and New Mexico. But most of all, she enjoyed the time spent with her family and her granddaughters. She was quick to smile, was the first to laugh, had a hug for everyone and made friends everywhere she went.
June is survived by her husband, William of Huntley, her daughters, Debbie (Tony) Santolin of Plano, Illinois, LeRae Goben of Lansing, Illinois, her granddaughters, Katie & Emily Santolin, her brother, Raymond “Butch” (Nancy) Butscher of Shorewood and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

June and I were close friends in grade school and high school. Sadly we lost track of each other after that. I just learned of her passing this evening reading the JCA alumni news. She was one of the sweetest and kindest girls in school. My heart goes out to her family. June and her family will be remembered in my prayers. Bonnie Meyer
