Obituary

Ruby J. Hornig, 75, of Sun City, Huntley, passed away on Monday evening, October 20, 2014 at JourneyCare Hospice in Woodstock following a lengthy illness.

She was born March 18, 1939 in Blytheville, Arkansas, the daughter of Nealy A. and Ruth (Vellars) Hendon. She was raised and educated in Arkansas and then moved to Chicago. She worked as a bookkeeper and office manager for various manufacturing companies. On May 4, 1957 she was united in marriage to LeRoy A. Hornig in Chicago. The couple made their home in Addison, where they raised their family and in the late 1990’s moved to Huntley. Ruby was very active in Sun City, she was a member of the Sun City Theatre Company, was on the Planning Commission for the Village of Huntley and enjoyed playing cards, tennis, bowling & golf.

She is survived by her children, Brian (Maria) Hornig of Addison, Donna (Tony) Falco of Roselle, Lori Czajka of Baraboo, Wisconsin & Randy (Lynn) Hornig of Geneva, Illinois, her grandchildren, Chris, Anthony, Michael, Tim, Brent and Marc, two step-grandchildren, Jesse & John, her brother, Wayne (Diane) Hendon of Elgin and her sister, Betty (Joe) Migliori of Chicago. She was predceded in death by her husband LeRoy in 2002 and many brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 23rd and the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 24th all at DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral & Cremation Service, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. Burial will be in Hampshire Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

It really saddens our hearts to hear of another very wonderful family member passing. Aunt Ruby was truly a Jewel, and will live in our hearts forever until God reunites us all again. Wish we could be there with you all, but be sure our hearts prayers are with you. We love you all.
