Denis G. Richards, 80 of Sun City, Huntley, passed away at his home on Friday, November 14, 2014 following a short illness.
He was born April 24, 1934 in Chicago, the son of Edward and Josephine (Morkowski) Richards. He graduated from Loyola Academy High School and later attended Loyola, Marquette & DePaul Universities. He then enlisted and served his country in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Dorothy A. Stelter on February 7, 1959 in Bellwood, Illinois. The couple made their home in Rolling Meadows for many years. Denis worked as an accountant and controller for several manufacturing firms. In 2000 they moved to Sun City, Huntley. He loved spending time with his family, fishing with his grandchildren and traveling with his wife, Dottie.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Ann “Dottie” of Huntley, his children, Denise (John) Hammer of Fox River Grove, Karen (Michael) Schmit of Medina, Ohio, David (Sue) Richards of Lake Zurich & Julie (Paul) Moreno of Joliet, his grandchildren, Heidi, Stephanie, Jamie, Jessica, Trevor, Megan, Carly, D. Cooper, Zachary, Sarah & Joey; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward & Joseph and his sister, Helene.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 17th at the DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral & Cremation Service, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 18th with visitation after 9:30a.m. all at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
