Donald “Don” G. Terry, 79 of Sun City, Huntley, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, morning, January 7, 2015 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin.

He was born April 16, 1935 in Mount Vernon, Indiana, the son of Gerald and Stella (Young) Terry. He grew up in Indiana and enlisted in the United States Air Force. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Murray State College in Kentucky. He was united in marriage to Sandra I. Shrout on August 29, 1959. The couple made their home in Des Plaines and Don worked as a consultant for Allstate Insurance, retiring in 1995. In 1999 they moved to Huntley and enjoyed their winters in Puerto Vallarta and in the summer, time at their home on Cisco Lake in Michigan. Don loved golf, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He was very sports minded, liked basketball and was a loyal Bears fan.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra of Huntley, his sons, David (Heather) Terry of Round Lake Heights, Illinois, Mike (Kim) Terry of Lindenhurst, his grandchildren, Rachel, Matthew, Daniel, Sacia & Savanna, his sister, Phyllis (George) Cottrell of Fishers, Indiana.

The family is having a private gathering to celebrate Don’s life. Memorials in his name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the charity of your choice.
