Charles E. Tresp, 83 of Sun City, Huntley, passed away on Saturday afternoon, February 7, 2015 at JourneyCare Hospice in Woodstock following a lengthy illness.
He was born August 30, 1931 in Johnston City, Illinois the son of Andrew and Edith (Smith-Homan) Tresp. He graduated from Tilden Technical School in Chicago and later enlisted in the United States Marines. He was united in marriage to Marlene J. Hausmann on March 29, 1969 in Berwyn. Charles worked as a commercial baker for Dressels Bakery, Rainbow, and later Colonial Bakery retiring in the early 1990’s. He had served as President of the Bakers Union Local #300. He possessed a beautiful voice and loved to sing, he was an avid reader, enjoyed walking and vacationing with family. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, awesome grandfather and best friend.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene, of Huntley, his children, Cindy (Jim) Kenney of Batavia, Kathy (David) Kann of Lake In The Hills & Michael Tresp of Sandwich, his grandchildren, Andy, Jimmy, Matthew, Luke & Nik, his brother, John “Bill” Tresp of Placentia, California. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jean.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 10th from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the 12:00 noon funeral service, all at Shepherd of The Prairie Lutheran Church, 10805 Main Street in Huntley. Burial will be at a later date in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to JourneyCare Foundation, 405 Lake Zurich Road, Barrington, IL 60010.
