Alfred T. Parr, Sr., 80, died peacefully in his sleep at home in Sun City, Huntley on Tuesday, March 3, 2015.
Born in Elgin, Illinois on January 25, 1935 to John and Peggy (Telles) Parr, he graduated Class of ’52 of Elgin High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps (1953 -1956). He was united in marriage to Patricia K. Krunfus on March 3, 1962. He worked as an IBEW electrician. In 1972, he and a partner founded PARR ELECRIC, INC. The community benefited from his active roles: in coaching little league sports; serving on the Electrical Apprenticeship Program; and volunteering his time and expertise on construction projects and volunteering at the Grafton Food Pantry. Some of the things he enjoyed outside of spending time with his family included hunting, fishing, tennis and gardening. Greatly missed will be his generous heart, insightful observations, work ethic, great sense of humor and caring personality.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia K. Parr of Huntley, his children: Leslie P. Shelby of Waterford, Wisconsin and A. Thomas (Yvonne) Parr, Jr. of Elgin, his grandchildren: Noah (Suehui), Gabrielle, Jesseca, Zachary, Elijah, Alyssa, Danielle & Stephanne; his sister: Anita Olson; Nephews: D. Lee (Sue) Olson, Jr. and Steven (Jodi) Olson and his sister-in-law; Hope Parr, great nieces & nephews: Katherine, Timothy, Hannah, Justine & Connor.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Parr, his sister, Lola Parr, his grandson; Joseph A. Parr and his brother-in-law, Darrel L. Olson, Sr.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the First Congregational Church, 11628 E. Main Street, Huntley, with the Reverend Lance Lackore officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Grafton Food Pantry or First Congregational Church.
