Johann Dittrich, 78 of Joplin, Missouri, formerly of Huntley, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2015 in Joplin following a short illness.
He was born November 1, 1936 in Koenigshof, Romania the son of Ignatz Auer and Katharina (Dittrich) Gimpel. He was raised and educated in Linz, Austria and in 1956 moved to the United States. He settled in Chicago and met Katharina Schmidt, they were married in January 1957. The couple lived in Chicago and Johann owned and operated Woodwork International in Elk Grove. They moved to Huntley in the late 1970’s and he retired in the mid 1990’s. In retirement he enjoyed fishing and time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Katharina, his daughters, Rita (Stephen) Hardesty both of Joplin, Trudy (John) Burk of Battle Creek, Michigan, his son, John (Cynthia) Dittrich of Springfield, Missouri, his grandchildren, Stephanie, Jason, Nathan, Michelle, Julianna & Joseph, his brother, Joseph (Sara) Dittrich of Huntley and his sister, Helena Puri-Jobi of Austria. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Michael & Joseph Gimpel, Peter Dittrich and his sister, Anna Schuller.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 14th from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 10:30 a.m. at the DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. Burial will be in Huntley Cemetery.
