Obituary

John M. Banasek, 74 of Sun City, Huntley, passed away on Thursday morning, March 19, 2015 with his loving wife by his side at JourneyCare Hospice in Barrington.

He was born August 17, 1940 in Evergreen Park, Illinois the son Felix and Petranella (Jurevich) Banasek. John served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam era. He worked as a financial planner, was an author, speaker, educator and lecturer for the ESOP Community of Business. In retirement he was active in Sun City Clubs, Historians, Current Events, Bocce Ball and Computer Club. John also enjoyed gardening and reading. He was a lifelong White Sox fan, a Northwestern University Wildcats fan, enjoyed classic cars, especially Packards and was a Patron of the Arts with the Elgin Symphony.

He is survived by his loving wife, Eleanor of Huntley, his sons, Gregory (Michele) Banasek of Edmonds, Washington, Jeffrey (Tammy) Banasek of Lombard, Mark (Christi) Banasek of Wellington, Ohio and his step-daughter, Susan M. (Donald) Wiley of Mason City, Iowa, his grandchildren, Jacob, Sam, Anna, Maggie & Robin.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Memorial Gathering and Service will be held in Mid-August. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Elgin Symphony.
