James K. LaVelle, 58 a Certified Public Accountant in Chicago, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2015 in Long Grove.
A graduate of Maine East H.S., he served in the United States Marines and later graduated Northeastern University. Jim was a martial arts enthusiast and teacher and was a member of the National Historian Society
He is survived by his mother, Jean LaVelle of Huntley, his brothers, Michael (Kim) LaVelle of Galena and Keith LaVelle of Williams Bay, Wisconsin, his sister, Maria (John) Knuth of Woodstock, his nieces and nephews, Megan & Kevin LaVelle and Mikayla & Melanie Knuth, also several aunts, uncles, cousins & friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Michael.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 11th and his family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of Mass at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley. Inurnment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Huntley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the ALS Association or the Wounded Warriors Project.
