Through all the years that I have had the pleasure of knowing Ed I have never met a kinder, gentler, more generous and loving man than Ed. Whenever I think of Ed in the future I will remember him sitting over a crossword puzzle with his "gar" and humming. He was always so kind to me and he will forever hold a special place in my heart.
I remember Ed as a volunteer at Highland Park Hospital. He was a warm and willing volunteer and would go anywhere and do anything to help a patient or a staff person. I will always remember him as the kindest, gentlest man. I know he will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
What a fine man Ed was. We became quite close during high school and the years at Loyola University. May God protect and take care of him in his new home. My heart goes out to Kris and the entire Oakey family. I already miss "The Shadow."
My thoughts and prayers are with Kris and family at this difficult time. I'll never forget the wonderful time Rich and I spent with Kris and Ed in Door County, especially when we went golfing. God bless you Ed, a quiet man with a great sense of humor!
