Obituary

John E. Sawczuk, 83 of Algonquin, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2015.

He was born July 7, 1931 in Chicago the son of Emil and Lottie (Swierczynski) Sawczuk. He graduated from Weber High School and enlisted in the United States Marines where he served active duty during the Korean War. John worked in the trucking business for over 30 years and in retirement worked for the State of Illinois at the Department of Motor Vehicles and an IDOT bridge team. In 2000 he moved to Algonquin. He was proud of his Polish heritage and liked to travel, he was active at St. Mary Church and helped with childcare for the Mother’s Bible Study.

He is survived by his children, Donna (Ruben Pacheco) Sawczuk of Carpentersville, Joanne Giacomino of Scottsdale, Arizona & Tom (Lisa) Sawczuk of Lombard, his grandchildren, Matthew, Carl, Lisette, Nicole, Ruben Jr., Jacklyn & Daniel, he was a God Father, uncle and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Stanley.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 25th at the DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley and on Friday, June 26th at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church – Kids for Christ.
