Robert Warren Kling

Robert (Bob) Kling passed away at his home in Marengo on June 22, 2015. Born in Chicago on October 16, 1922, he attended Sullivan High School and then Northwestern University where he met his wife, Beverly. Following graduation with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, he was commissioned as a Lt, J.G. in the Navy during World War II. After the war he worked at Athey Products, manufacturer of earth moving equipment for Caterpillar, rapidly moving from Chief Engineer to Vice President of Engineering, In 1962 he moved from Wilmette, Illinois to Marengo as president of Chicago Eastern Corp. After retiring from Chicago Eastern he began a family construction business, Colonial Enterprises. He built homes until his full retirement at the age of 86, in 2008. In addition to enjoying his family at his Marengo home, he spent many happy times at his lake house in Winchester, Wisconsin and his home in Key West, Florida. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Edna and Oscar, his sister, Florence, and his wife of 65 years. He is survived by his seven children: Robert Jr. (Deborah), Candace (Daniel) Kling, Kathlyn (Robert) Smith, Victoria (Walter) Nelson, Elizabeth (Richard) Hoskins, Patricia (Chuck) Kling, and Stephen (Laurie). In addition to his children he is survived by 23 grandchildren and 38 great grand children. A celebration of his life will be held on July 11th starting at 1:00 p.m. at his farm in Marengo. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Loyola Medical Center for Vascular and Heart Medicine. I would like to extend my condolences regarding Mr. King. May the timely reminders. May the future promises at Acts 2415 1 Corinthians 1526 strengthening the family friends especially at this time.
