Donald E. Cameron, 84 of Marengo, passed away on Friday evening, September 18, 2015 in Woodstock following a lengthy illness.
He was born November 11, 1930 in Chicago, the son of John W. and Marie (Tobin) Cameron. He was raised and educated in Chicago and then enlisted in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Peggy F. Bojar on May 7, 1955. The couple made their home in Chicago where they raised their family. Don was employed as a driver for Super Motor Service Trucking for 47 years, retiring in 1992. Following retirement the couple made their home in Algonquin and in 2003 moved to Marengo. He enjoyed playing cards, collected cast aluminum trucks and was an avid Star Trek fan from the beginning.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy of Marengo, his sons, Steven (Donna) Cameron of Des Plaines, Daniel Cameron of Lake In The Hills and David (Patricia) Cameron of Woodstock, his granddaughters, Gina Marie (Rob) Lietz, Danielle (Chris Kniaz), Whitney (Patrick lyons) & McKenzie (Jon Meinken) and his great-grandchildren, Dominic & Mia. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jack & Robert and his sisters, Virginia, Patricia, Mary Ellen, Rosemary & Kathleen.
A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23rd with a 7:00 p.m. Service of Remembrance at the DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral & Cremation Service, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley.
