Paul Baltys

Obituary

Paul Baltys, 72 of Wonder Lake died Friday, November 13, 2015 at his home.
Visitation for Paul will be on Wednesday from2-6:00pm at DeFiore Jorgensen Funeral Home -10763 Dundee Road Huntley. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to the Collier House.
Paul was born in 1943 and a year later his family fled Lithuania to escape the terror of Stalin. Six years later they migrated to the South side of Chicago at 18th & Halsted, and later moved to Marquette Park. After graduating from St. Rita's High School, Paul joined the U.S. Army. Paul served in the 101st Airborne and was stationed in Alaska. After being honorably discharged, he drove his motorcycle back across the Alcan. He took his time and had one hell of a trip. Upon arriving back in Chicago, Paul enrolled at the University of Illinois at Chicago and graduated with a degree in the Liberal Arts. After graduating Paul took up bartending, until a customer asked Paul if he could help move a piano up three flights of stairs. For those who knew Paul, he never said no to anyone who needed a favor. And after that piano move, Paul hit the road and spent the better part of the next 40 years moving folks across theƂ country, with the CB handle "the Movin' Lugan." In 1988, Paul established his own local moving company, named after the infamous Indian tribe, "The Fugahwee." Paul continued to move pianos up until his diagnosis with cancer one month ago.
He is survived by his children, Izora Baltys, Falco Baltys and Saulius Baltys. He is also survived by his sister, Veronika Svabas and by many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Juozas, and his daughter, Jura.
