Edward William Solger, Jr. 88 of Huntley died peacefully, November 20, 2015.
A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00am Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church-10307 Dundee Road, Huntley. Visitation will be an hour prior at the Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Journeycare Hospice 405 Lake Zurich Road, Barrington, IL
Edward was born November 12, 1927 in Chicago the son of Edward and Wilhelmina (Schmit) Solger. He married Margaret Catherine Dalton in 1948. He served in the United States Army. He was a member of St. Mary Church, a Knight of Columbus, he enjoyed gardening, canning, coin collecting, bowling and was the founder of the Sun City Softball Teams. He loved Culvers and Papa G’s and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Nancy Solger, Robert (Nickie) Solger, William (Michele) Solger, Carol (Robert) Gates, Edward (Rachel) Solger, and Mary (Randall) Frake. He is survived by his grandchildren, Robert (Lisa), Amy (Gines), Jonathan (Julie), Shane, Michael, Nick, Stephanie, Jared, Nathalie, Nate, Nick, Jordyn, and Kelley. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Emma, Madie, Andy ,Logan and Alessandra. And by his special friend, Peggy Barrowclift. He is also survived by his Sister, Margie Dalton. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Margaret, and brothers, Robert Solger and Ray Solger.
