Eric Joseph Litterer
Eric passed away December 1, 2015, at his home surrounded lovingly by his family.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-8 pm at DeFiore Jorgensen Funeral Home-10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00am on Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church-10307 Dundee Road, Huntley. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation or ASPCA.
Eric was born December 13, 1964, in Dallas, Texas. The family settled soon after in Excelsior, Minnesota. Following high school Eric enrolled at Drake University. In 1984 and 1985 he lettered in tennis. He was a member of the Drake D Club and Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He graduated with a degree in business finance in 1987. He married Laura A. Roels on July 31, 1993. They welcomed two beautiful daughters, Morgan Leigh in 1999 and Lindsey Rae in 2001. Eric was a loving husband and father. The family enjoyed many special times together.
Through the years he participated in a variety of sports, becoming an avid golfer over the past 25 years. His physical strength along with his great fortitude enabled him to endure much these last past 10 years. His wit, humor, kindness, and dedication to all he pursued were enormous in both his personal and business life.
Eric joined EMC in the mid 1990’s and with his professional leadership his sales team earned winning performances many years.
Eric is survived by his wife Laura, daughters, Morgan and Lindsey, his parents Barbara and Tom, Litterer, brother, Mark (Beth) Litterer; parents-in-law, Barbara and Tim Roels; sister-in-law, Jennifer Roels (Joe) Fackel, brother-in-law, Tim (Ann) Roels,Jr., Nephews, Nathan and Grant Fackel, James Roels, and Mark Litterer, Jr. and nieces Addie Roels and Madeline Litterer

Laura, Morgan and Lindsey, I was privileged to work with Eric as his customer for many years and because of him, became his EMC colleague. In business he was smart, clear, focused, organized and honest—a rare and wonderful combination in any colleague. Personally he was funny, accessible, personal and a total joy to be around. I admired his courage, clarity and sense of joy, especially as illness beset him. Please accept my heartfelt best wishes at this very sad time. He will be greatly missed.
