Gene C. Strang, 75 of Huntley, passed away on Sunday morning, February 7, 2016 at Presence Saint Joseph Hospital in Elgin.
He was born November 12, 1940 in Chicago, the son of Herbert Carl and Erna Emma (Stiller) Strang. He was raised and educated in Chicago, graduating from Luther North High School. He was united in marriage to Kathleen J. Patelski on January 31, 1970. The couple made their home in Crystal Lake and in 1985 moved to Huntley. Gene was a repairman for Otis Elevator Company for many years, retiring in 1998. He especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and gardening as well as, working in his shop.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen, his son, Bryan Gene Strang, both of Huntley, his son, Scott Carl Strang of St. Charles, his grandson, Kyle Bryan Strang, his sister, Joy (Daniel) Busam of Palatine and his brother, Dale H. (Sue) Strang of Bloomington. He was preceded in death by his parents and two daughters, Carolyn Joy and April Elaine.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 11th at the DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral & Cremation Service, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley and on Friday, February 12th from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service at Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church, 10805 Main Street, Huntley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the National Kidney Foundation.
