Obituary

Louis P. Gagliano, 93 of Sun City, Huntley, passed away in Wauconda on Thursday morning, February 25, 2016.

He was born May 28, 1922 in Chicago, the son of Angelo and Lucia (Mistretta) Gagliano. He was raised and educated in Chicago and met Marie A. Fontechia. He enlisted in the United States Army and served in intense combat in the Philippines for 3 years in WWII. Upon his return he was united in marriage to Marie on October 19, 1946. They made their home in Chicago where they raised their family and Louis worked at Teletype for over 30 years. In retirement he went into real estate and was an agent for 25 years before retiring for a second time and moving to Huntley in 2011. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, they were together for over 70 years, his family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his dog, Sam.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marie of Huntley, his sons, Louis A. Gagliano (Fran Pecoraro) of Huntley, Donald A. (Rosalind) Gagliano of San Antonio, Texas and Ronald (Sylvia) Gagliano of Huntley, his grandchildren, Louis (Sonja), Tamara (Brian Hopkins), Lauren (Eric Gagliano-Saline), Amanda & Michael and his great-grandchildren, Tyler, Lillian & Adrianna. He was preceded in death by his brothers, George, Joe and Frank.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 28th at the DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral & Cremation Service, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley and on Monday, February 29th at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the 10:00 a.m. funeral mass.
