Victor L. Santoro, 86 of Sun City, Huntley, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2016 in Elgin following a short illness.
He was born March 15, 1929 in Chicago, the son of Dominick and Sadie (Dattilo) Santoro. He graduated from St. Phillips High School and enlisted in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Anna Gaudio on October 17, 1953. The couple made their home in Chicago and later Mt. Prospect where they raised their family. Victor worked for Peoples Gas for over 30 years, retiring in the late 1990’s. In 1998, they moved to Huntley. He enjoyed the Chicago Blackhawks, playing bocce ball and tennis, enjoyed doing yardwork but most of all took great delight in helping others.
He is survived by his wife, Anna of Huntley, his daughter, Donna Hernandez of Franklin, Tennessee, his son, Jerome Santoro of Wadsworth, Illinois, his grandchildren, James and Brian Silvers, Drake Hernandez, Alana and Peter Santoro, his great-grandchildren, Koa, James & Lexi, his brother, Darryl (Patricia) Santoro of Palatine. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Salvatore.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass on Friday, March 11th at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley. Private family entombment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, River Grove. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital www.stjude.org or the Grafton Food Pantry www.graftonfoodpantry.org
