John “Jack” Ritenour, 79 of Hoffman Estates, died peacefully, March 21, 2016 at Alexanian Brothers Hospice.
A memorial service to celebrate Jack’s life will be held 11:00am, Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Chandler's- 401 N. Roselle Road, Schaumburg, IL 60194. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Salute Inc. 14 N Bothwell St, Palatine, IL 60067.
Jack was born March 25, 1936 in Chicago, the son of Dewey and Elizabeth Ritenour. He served in the United States Marine Corp. On April 6, 1974 he married Kathleen Christian. He was a Chicago Police Officer until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and the American Legion. He was an avid reader, he loved golf and all sports. He also loved anything Irish.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen, his children, Laura (John) Havemeyer, Melanie Sciackitano, Christopher Ritenour, Matthew (Nancy) Ritenour, Megan Ritenour and Timothy (Helen) Ritenour. He is survived by his 10 grandchildren: Justin, Ryan, Ashley, Nicole, Roxanne, Courtney, Caitlin, Natalie, Eva and Christian and by his 2 great grandchildren, Johnny and Wilson. And also by his niece, Debra Ritenour. He is preceded in death by his parents, and by his brother, Robert.
