Dennis E. Jaynes

Obituary

Dennis E. Jaynes (Denny) passed away April 12, at home, surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, of Huntley, sister, Judy Monk of CA, his sons, Danny and Jeff of Kansas City and Kenny (Cheryl) of Galveston, TX, grandchildren, Aaron, Travis, Jeremy and Hallie and seven great grandchildren, as well as his step children, Michael Ham and Linda DiVito, and grandchildren, Jeff, Jessica, Danielle and Nicholas.
Denny began his 50-year career in the printing industry at RR Donnelley in IN, where he received recognition for his many innovative contributions. His journey then took him to Kansas City, Iowa and Chicago, where he left his imprint on several major printing companies, receiving patents for his inventions and awards for his service. He was a member of the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation and was a popular speaker, on their behalf, throughout the country. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge and was a dedicated mentor and teacher.
A man of many interests, Denny was an avid reader and student of history, a talented artist, who wrote a poem about each painting he completed calling his collection “Thoughts on Canvas”. He loved to fish and proudly displayed his biggest catches. He helped organize the Mavericks Jazz Band in Sun City and was their drummer for nine years. He was often referred to as a “Renaissance Man”. He served as Scoutmaster for many years, while living in Kansas City, and was proud of the fact that all three of his sons earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a tireless volunteer; including playing Santa at a local children’s hospital, serving as a YMCA Board Member, and working with a school for the blind, where he helped students to experience the joys of nature and the outdoors, including how to fish.
Denny was a man with no “Bucket list”, saying he had done everything he had wanted to do. He was a deeply spiritual man who never complained about his long illness, but counted his blessings every day. He was a loving and positive influence in many lives and will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
