Obituary

Leroy F. Berkebile, 95 of Woodstock, died peacefully, May 17, 2016.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 3:00 to 7:00pm at DeFiore Jorgensen Funeral Home-10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00am on Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church-10307 Dundee Road, Huntley. Burial will be in Maryhill Cemetery in Niles, IL. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Shriners Children’s Hospital.
Leroy was born October 31, 1920 in Hooversville, PA the son of Freeman and Edythe (Helman) Berkebile. He served in the United States Navy as an aviation captain. He flew as a Chief Pilot for American Airlines until his retirement in 1980. Following retirement he continued to fly for Charter services. He was a member of St. Mary Church and enjoyed hunting, and traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Betty, of 47 years, his children, Donald (Karyn), Sandra (John) Schroeder, David (Marilyn), Pamela (Thomas) Holstein, Jeanne (Rick) Davidson, Jack (Dolly), Charles (Tonya) and Eric (Erica). He is also survived by his brother, John (Sue), Sister, Diane (Nevin) Deist and by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and by many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, Dennis, by his sisters, Carmie, Dorothy “Sis” and his brother, David.
